The best cookie of all time
Today's subject is cookies. Chocolate cookies. And what could be better than that?
Way back in the early 1950s, Mom copied a recipe out of a magazine. It was for Sprinkle Cookies, and they became the family favourite. And I am glad to say that the tradition has continued. Both Norbert and Lucas love them too.
Although we still have most of a strawberry shortcake left, I decided to bake some cookies too.
The cake is good. Considering how the weather has been here, I was a little wary of the strawberries, but they were good.
Anyway, back to cookies. This is what they look like.
I warn you, though, they are addictive! They are nice and soft and chocolatey, everything I want in a cookie.....
1 ½ cups butter
2 cups sugar
2 eggs
½ tsp salt
4 oz baking chocolate, melted
4 TBSP milk
1 tsp vanilla
4 cups flour
Preheat oven to 375°F. Cream butter. Beat in sugar. Add eggs, salt, chocolate, milk, and vanilla. Mix well. Add flour. Chill dough in refrigerator until firm.
Shape into balls. (I used a mini-muffin scoop). Dip in sprinkles. Bake 8-10 minutes. (I use parchment paper on the cookie sheets). Cool five minutes on the pan before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely. If you can wait that long.....
